More About Paul Peteet

Peteet was born and raised in Atlanta, GA,  attended Henry Grady High School, and majored in biology at Davidson College in Davidson, NC.  He returned to Atlanta and attended Emory University School of Medicine, then completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Providence Medical Center in Portland, OR.  After meeting his wife there, he moved to her home state of Illinois and joined a group of internists at The Health Center in Bloomington-Normal IL, where he practiced primary care internal medicine for 5 years. Finding the icy winters there unbearable, he relocated to Clinton, NC, where he practiced three years on staff at Sampson County Memorial Hospital. He then settled in Athens, GA, where he has served as a staff physician at the UGA University Health Center for the past 27 years. While at the UGA University Health Center, some of his activities there included Chair of Medical Staff  (1990-1992), Coordinator of High Risk Program (1992-2010), Member of Alcohol and Drug Treatment Team (1994-2014), Member of UGA IRB Committee (2001-2010), Chair of  UHC Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (2011-2014), and Lead Physician for  Medical Clinic Blue (2009-2014). He recently retired from the UGA University Health Center on July 1, 2014 in order to pursue other interests, including continued teaching opportunities at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership. His hobbies include running, hiking, bird-watching, and reading. Peteet has two daughters who both graduated from Berry College in Rome, GA. The oldest is involved in mission work in Nairobi, Kenya, while his younger daughter is currently a fourth year student here at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership.
