The best parts of medical school, for me, so far have been anatomy lab and shadowing in the hospital. During anatomy lab in first year, I thought that learning about the human body in such a hands-on, intimate way was amazing. Being able to hold a human brain is an indescribable experience. In second year, I loved interviewing patients in the hospital with my faculty mentor. It is so exciting to be able to apply the knowledge that we have gained about physiology and about interacting with patients in a real-life scenario. Working with patients reminds me that all of my effort in the classroom is worth it.
