2015 Match Day Brunch

AU/UGA Medical Partnership participants in Match Day 2015 gathered at 10:30 am for a celebratory brunch.  For the second year, clerkship directors announced fun "Paper Plate Award" winners during the brunch before the group walked to George Hall to find out where they will be going for their residency training.

The first class of medical students from the AU UGA Medical Partnership are graduating. A look back at the journey of the last four years as these students made their way through medical school by growing closer together, learning directly from attending physicians, volunteering in the Mercy Clinic, and laying the groundwork for future medical students in Athens.

A look back: The AU/UGA Medical Partnership (2009)

The Medical College of Georgia (AU) and the University of Georgia partnered to create a four-year medical education program in Athens to help alleviate a statewide shortage of physicians that threatens the health of Georgians. The MCG/UGA Medical Partnership combines the significant instructional and research resources of UGA, the states flagship land-grant research university, with the expertise of MCG, Georgias only public medical school.

Match Day 2014

On the third Friday of March, medical students around the country discover their next step in medical education, the appointment to residency programs. The first class of the AU/UGA Medical Partnership students participated in this rite of passage and opened their envelopes at noon revealing where they "matched" for their residency program.

Light the night

Light The Night is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) nationwide evening fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. This is an annual event for The LLS to raise funds for research, patient services and education. Athens Regional Health System is proud to have raised $25,000 each year we've been a part of the event.

Hugs & high-fives

The first two years of medical school are an intensely shared experience between classmates. They peek into each other's ears, poke and prode each other bones, and draw each other’s blood. They share daily routines, late nights, and weekends.  It's no wonder that they also celebrate their achievements and honor each other's accomplishments with hugs and high-fives.
