Schuster, an internist and seasoned medical educator who chaired the Department of Internal Medicine at Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine in Ohio for a dozen years, has been named campus dean of the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership in Athens.

UGA Real Estate Foundation purchases building for medical teaching facility

The UGA Real Estate Foundation has purchased the historic Athens Factory, better known as the O’Malley’s building, to be renovated into a medical teaching facility. Purchase of the 36,845-square-foot building and approximately five acres on Williams Street at the North Oconee River closed Tuesday at a purchase price of $7,278,500.

Medical School Enrollment Boosted to Meet Doctor Shortage

The University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents approved a resolution today that commits the System to a 60 percent expansion of physician education through the Augusta University (AU) School of Medicine. The board’s action follows its earlier acceptance of a report calling for medical education expansion in Georgia.
