MCG Class of 2018 Hooding Ceremony

The Hooding Ceremony takes place the day before Graduation at the William B. Bell Memorial Auditorium and formally acknowledges and celebrates the achievements of graduating medical students. The Hooding Ceremony also signals another step in their medical career as students recite the Hippocratic Oath and are welcomed into the medical profession.

Class of 2018 Community Celebration and Recognition

To recognize and honor the Medical Partnership Class of 2017, the Athens campus will be hosting a Community Celebration.  The Celebration takes place the day following Graduation on the UGA Health Sciences Campus Marching Grounds.  A reception will be held following the ceremony in Royar Square on the UGA Health Sciences Campus.

The AU/UGA Medical Partnership Community Celebration and Recognition is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, 2018.

The ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. and will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Programs will be placed in the seats for each of the students, and guests will receive copies while supplies last.

Please note: seats cannot be reserved for the Community Celebration and Recognition.

Immediately following the ceremony, Medical Partnership graduates and their guests are invited to have light refreshments. 



Parking is available in all UGA Health Sciences campus lots.  Please do not park on sidewalks, landscaped areas, or on streets so as to not block lanes of traffic.  Improperly parked vehicles may be towed.  It is suggested that disabled and elderly guests arrive early to ensure nearby parking.  There will be a golf cart in the parking lots to carry guests to the event location as needed.


Rain Location

In the event of inclement weather, a change of venue announcement will be made at 8:30 a.m. in front of Winnie Davis Hall on the UGA Health Sciences Campus, as well as posted on the Medical Partnership website (medicalpartnership.usg.edu) and the Medical Partnership Facebook page (www.facebook.com/auugamedicalpartnership).  The rain location for the ceremony will be George Hall on the UGA Health Sciences Campus.

After the event concludes and all photos have been taken, students and faculty should return their gown, hood, and tam to Russell Hall Room 151.
