  • Bus Service and Parking

    Bus Service

The Health Sciences Campus is served by both the University of Georgia and Athens Clarke County bus routes. Route and service information may be obtained through UGA's Campus Transit System, as well as the Athens Transit System.

    Parking

UGA Parking Services regulates the parking areas located on the Health Sciences Campus. Additional registration and permit information may be obtained through the GRU/UGA Medical Partnership Business Office.  Please contact Tina Marohl, Administrative Associate, for more information.

  • Health and Wellness

AU/UGA Medical Partnership students can utilize UGA's University Health Center for any medical needs.  The University Health Center has a primary care clinic, women's clinic, sports medicine clinic, allergy/travel clinic, dental clinic, counseling and psyciatric services (CAPS), and a vision clinic, among others.  Normal office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Contact the University Health Center for further details or call 706-542-1162.

Our students also have access to Student Health On-Line (SHOL) through the Student Health Services office on the Augusta campus. SHOL gives you full access to view your immunization record, print it, save it to forward to others as needed and see if there any requirements that have not been met. The AU Student Health Services office in Augusta can also be reached at 706-721-3448 or studenthealth@augusta.edu.

AU's health sciences campus has immunization requirements, in addition to the USG Board of Regents requirements. Students need to be fully immunized to prevent the spread or contracting of contagious diseases. To attend classes per the Board of Regents, the University System of Georgia, and the GRU immunization policy,  all health sciences students must meet the established immunization requirements.  A list of required immunizations is found here. If you have questions regarding the requirements, please email immunizations@augusta.edu.

  • Student Transportation Policy

For required academic events away from Athens campus, transportation will be provided by the Medical Partnership.  When the Medical Partnership provides transportation, all students are required to utilize that transportation.

If a student has a legitimate reason to use alternate means of transportation to attend a required, academic off-campus event, he or she may submit a request for an exception to this policy to the Associate Dean for Student and Multicultural Affairs, at least 5 days prior to the event.  In case of an emergency, contact the Associate Dean of Student and Multicultural Affairs directly.

The Office of Student and Multicultural Affairs Office is located in rooms 110 and 112 in Winnie Davis Hall.

  • Inclement Weather Policy

The AU/UGA Medical Partnership follows the UGA Inclement Weather Operations Policy:

    UGA Inclement Weather Operations Policy

PLEASE NOTE:  The AU/UGA Medical Partnership follows the UGA Inclement Weather Operations Policy.

During periods of inclement weather, UGA follows a set procedure for announcing operational changes.

By policy, the university makes one of three announcements: UGA is open and operating on a regular schedule; UGA is closed; or UGA will delay opening until a specific time.

An all-campus e-mail through ArchNews is the primary means to distribute such announcements. The announcement also is posted to the UGA home page.

Announcements will also be posted to Twitter (@universityofga and @UGAEVENTS) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/uga.edu and https://www.facebook.com/UgaToday).

Up-to-date information is provided to Athens radio stations as follows:

    • on the AM dial: 960 and 1340;
    • and on the FM dial: 88.9, 90.5, 91.7, 97.9, 100.1, 102.1, 103.7 and 106.1.

Information is posted on University Cable Channel 15, which also is carried on channel 15 of the cable system serving Clarke and Oconee counties. Athens radio stations are used primarily because they give priority to UGA announcements where Atlanta stations cannot. Atlanta TV and radio stations that have requested to receive UGA weather announcements also are notified, but should not be considered a primary source for closing announcements.

If inclement weather develops overnight, attempts are made to post announcements and notify media by 6:30 a.m., but if the inclement weather develops after 6:30 a.m. on a school/work day, the same notification procedures are used.

When weather conditions are such that closings occur two or more days in succession, the procedure is followed each day, with an announcement being made each day by
6:30 a.m. An evening announcement usually will not be made for the next day except in the most extreme weather circumstances.

On days when UGA generally is scheduled to be closed (Saturdays, Sundays and holidays), the university does not usually make blanket closing announcements. Departments and units that have normal operations on weekends and holidays, or units planning to host or present special programs on those days, should make their own prior arrangements with employees and participants, notifying them how to proceed in case of inclement weather.

When UGA is officially closed, it is closed for everyone: faculty, staff and students. Departments will designate in advance those expected to report to work during a weather emergency.

Announcements for weather closings at UGA campuses in Buckhead, Gwinnett, Griffin and Tifton are handled by those campus administrators, separately from the main campus announcements.

  • Pound Hall - Physical Activities Center

Pound Hall is a satellite location of the Ramsey Center on UGA's Health Sciences Campus, and it is open for Medical Partnership student, faculty and staff use.  Pound Hall is truly a "gem" nestled on this new campus. Fall hours are currently Monday - Thursday from 11:00 am - 9:00 pm and on Friday from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm.  Pound Hall is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

To be able to access the Pound Hall facilities, eligible students, faculty/staff, retirees, dependents and alumni should become a Ramsey Student Center member. Members must have their UGACard ID for access.  The gym has cardio and strength training equipment.  It has limited services and does not offer locker rental, towel services, children's access or Guest Passes.

Directly behind Pound Hall, Wheeler Gymnasium offers scheduled open rec basketball and open rec volleyball.
