Any gap years? If so, what did you do?
I took two gap years between undergraduate and medical school. I learned a lot of valuable lessons during these two years by working at a hospital in Chattanooga, TN, as a nurse assistant on a stroke floor that turned into a COVID floor when the pandemic hit the states, followed by working as an EMT-B on a busy 911 truck in northwest Georgia. I did each job for almost a year and saw sides of medicine many physicians are not familiar with. These experiences have deeply impacted the way I approach interprofessional relationships and teamwork. I also volunteered as a firefighter and EMT and fostered cats with a local animal shelter. Needless to say, I stayed busy!

Bio: tell us about yourself
I am a native Texan and grew up in a Houston suburb. I transplanted myself to Georiga for undergraduate and have stuck around ever since! Both states hold special places in my heart. I have a rescue cat I foster-failed and my family back home has a rescue pup. I am close with my family and talk to my parents and grandparents weekly. I attend a local martial arts class in Athens and helped found the Medical Improv student interest group here at the Medical Partnership! On the weekends, I like to relax with a good TV show or audiobook!
I have wanted to be an OB/GYN since I was eight years old. I am passionate about women’s health, particularly antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care. I aspire to be an OB generalist or laborist and to provide my patients with safe, empowering labor and delivery experiences.
