Music and Poetry: Well-being for the Soul, Peace for the World

Monday, April 27th, 7:00-8:15,

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 498 Prince Avenue, Athens.

Join us for a contemplative evening of music and poetry with pianist Dana Cunningham, whose deeply expressive performances invite listeners into a space of reflection, renewal, and peace. This is more than a concert—it is an experience of stillness and beauty. Through the gentle power of piano and the wisdom of poetry, the evening offers a pause from the pace of daily life and an invitation to reconnect with what nourishes the human spirit.

In a time when the world often feels hurried and divided, music and poetry remind us of our shared humanity. Together, we listen, reflect, and imagine a more peaceful world—beginning within.

About the Artist
Contemplative pianist Dana Cunningham brings a distinctive blend of musical artistry and spiritual depth to her performances. She studied piano at the Blair School of Music while earning her Bachelor of Science in Communication from Vanderbilt University.

Her musical voice has been shaped by a rich and diverse journey of study and reflection, including a lifelong engagement with contemplative poetry—from Mary Oliver to Hafiz and Rumi. Will Ackerman, founder of Windham Hill Records, praises Dana Cunningham as a “brilliant player” whose music is both profoundly emotional and deeply communicative. He has described her work—particularly The Color of Light—as among the most compelling piano compositions and performances he has encountered in over two decades.
