Keel named professor in Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Brooks A. Keel, PhD, president of Augusta University, was named professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Medical College of Georgia with a secondary appointment as a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Science and Mathematics, effective December 2015.

Keel received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Augusta University’s founding universities: Augusta College (later Augusta State University) and his PhD in Reproductive Endocrinology from the Medical College of Georgia.

Before arriving at Augusta University, Keel served as the 12th president of Georgia Southern University (2010-15) and as the vice chancellor for research and economic development at Louisiana State University (2006-09).

He is a member of the Society for the Study of Reproduction, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, among others. Keel has served on numerous boards, including the American Board of Bioanalysis, the American Association of Bioanalysts Board of Registry, the Oak Ridge Associated Universities, the Southeastern Universities Research Association, and the Executive Committee of the Council on Research Policy and Graduate Education of APLU.
