Medical Partnership and School of Medicine employees honored

Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership and UGA School of Medicine faculty and staff gathered in George Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 24, to celebrate extraordinary employees for AY25 (2024-25). Awards presented during the ceremony were: AU/UGA Medical Partnership Faculty Teaching Awards, MCG Exemplary Teaching Awards, MCG Educator of the Year Awards, MCG Basic Science Educator Award, Outstanding Staff Award, and Years of Service Awards.

 

Medical Student Advisor of the Year Award

The advisor’s achievement was assessed using the following criteria: exemplary academic support for students, exemplary career advising, specialty navigation and/or residency planning with students, and exemplary mentorship of students.

Excellence in Faculty Leadership Award

The leader’s achievement was assessed using the following criteria: established a collaborative environment for the team, used effective team management strategies, and effectively used data to appropriately evaluate project/initiative outcomes. This role is nominated by faculty and senior leadership.

Eligible faculty members must have shared his/her scholarship with national/international forums. Eligible types of scholarship include peer-reviewed publications, peer-reviewed teaching repositories, invited publications, books/book chapters, editorials, oral abstracts, and poster abstracts.

Faculty Mentor of the Year

Eligible faculty members must have served as a mentor in the Campus Mentoring Program. Criteria: how your mentor helped the mentee make progress for promotion and/or advancement, how your mentor helped the mentee improve his/her research/scholarship skills, and how your mentor helped the mentee improve his/her teaching skills.
