Tell us a little bit about yourself

I grew up in Lagrange, Georgia where I attended Lagrange High School. I attended Georgia Tech where I was a member of the softball team and graduated with a degree in Biology. I was accepted to MCG immediately after graduating college. I have a dog named Mango who I rescued at the end of my first year of medical school. I am applying into Pediatrics residency and hope to afterwards pursue a fellowship in Neonatology or Hospital medicine.

Why did you choose MCG and the Medical Partnership campus?

I was randomly assigned to the Athens campus, and I am so grateful that I was! I loved the small group learning and getting to know all our professors and clinicians. I also enjoy that we rotate through the Athens area hospitals and clinics where we get one on one teaching with attendings and a ton of hands-on experience, while also having the opportunity to rotate in the large academic medical center in Augusta as well.

What is your advice for someone who is interested in medical school?

Know your why. Medical school is long and hard, but you also get to meet a lot of really great people and finally work towards becoming a doctor. If you love what you do, then it is easier to get through the harder times.

What is a typical day for you?

I typically wake up, take my dog outside, eat breakfast, and head to the hospital or clinic depending on which rotation I am on. We typically help see patients in clinic or round in the hospital and help with writing patient notes. After I am finished working for the day, I come home, take my dog on a walk through my neighborhood, eat dinner, and then hang out with friends or go to local trivia nights.

What motivated you to want to be a physician?

I always loved science growing up and I wanted to do something that would be new and exciting every day, while also helping people.
