Year in Medical School
M4 (class of 2021)
Where did you complete your undergraduate education?
University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!)
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I’m an aspiring surgeon with a knack for music! I love using my hands to fix things, and I hope to make a career of offering hope to people in the middle of crisis
Why did you choose MCG and the Medical Partnership campus?
I was attracted to the small group learning environment. Also, I loved Athens during undergrad and didn’t want to leave!
What is your advice for someone who is interested in medical school?
If you want to work hard every day to touch people’s lives, this is the job for you. If money and lifestyle are your priority, don’t go to medical school!
What is a typical day for you?
Things are a bit different lately with the pandemic: I spend most mornings attending Zoom meetings and studying. I usually take a break around lunch to play some guitar / banjo on my porch! Evenings are for relaxing with my family or calling friends.
What motivated you to want to be a physician?
I loved science classes in undergrad (can’t help it—I’m a nerd!) and wanted to channel that into a life-long career primarily focused on helping those in need.
Favorite place to eat in Athens:
Do I have to pick just one? Tlaloc makes la mejor comida latina in town! Clocked is the classic burger joint. Check out Automatic Pizza for the best pizza in town!
If you could have dinner with one person, who would it be?
Would love to have dinner and jam with Tommy Emmanuel (best fingerstyle guitarist alive today, in my opinion).
