Medical Partnership AOA & GHHS Inductees Honored

On February 19th, the newest Medical Partnership inductees in Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Society were recognized at a celebration ceremony.

Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AOA) is a professional medical organization that recognizes and advocates for excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals in the profession of medicine.  Members have a compelling drive to do well and to advance the medical profession and exemplify the highest standards of professionalism.

For students, the top 25% of the Class of 2015 are eligible for AOA with only 16% being inducted.  The AU/UGA Medical Partnership’s AOA selection committee, in making their final selections, considered scholastic achievement, leadership capabilities, ethical standards, fairness in dealing with colleagues, demonstrated professionalism, potential for achievement in medicine, and record of service to the school and community at large.

The selected inductees include:

Theodora Brandon (St. Mary’s, Georgia)

Wesley Bryson (Rome, Georgia)

Rocco Cannistraro (Westport, Massachusetts)

Russell Ledford (Houston, Texas)

Andrew Miller (Watkinsville, Georgia)

Tom Olinger (Kalamazoo, Michigan)

W. Scott Richardson, MD (Associate Dean of Curriculum)

In 2002, the Arnold P. Gold Foundation established the Gold Humanism Honor Society as a signature program to recognize medical students, residents, and faculty who practice patient-centered care by modeling the qualities of integrity, excellence, compassion, altruism, respect, and empathy.  Students are nominated by their peers and by faculty.
