Which wireless network do I use while on the Health Sciences campus?

Always use MedPAWS-Secure with your UGA MyID. This network allows access to AU online resources the other wifi networks do not.

Why do we only use WebEx for internet conferences?

Since we are partnered with Augusta University, they provide our web conferencing service which is WebEx.

How can I check the availability of a room?

All available rooms have their own calendars. You can see these calendars by adding the room calendar to your Outlook application or by using the browser and signing into your UGA email.

Search for calendars that begin with “HSC Russell” and “HSC Winnie Davis”.

How do I reserve a conference room?

Since the IT Office doesn’t reserve rooms for meetings, conferences, and Academic Half Days, you can reserve a room by creating an event on the room’s calendar. If you do not have the permissions to add an event, contact your local administrator or business office personnel.

What are video conference PINs?

The PIN for a video conference consists of 5 digits, usually starting with a ‘46’ or ‘47’. These are special numbers that allow both sides to call and ‘meet’ in one place.

How do I provide PINs to AU attendees when setting up a video conference?

We have special PINs reserved for us to use. When you submit a ticket, ask for a PIN to be provided.

What is the difference between a video conference and a WebEx internet conference?

A video conference can only be held in specific rooms outfitted with this functionality.

A WebEx session can be started and joined from any device that has internet connectivity and at least a mic.

Can I create my own WebEx sessions?

Yes, you can! Submit an IT support ticket or send us an email asking to be a WebEx host. We will contact AU who will grant you permission. We will gladly show you how to create a session in advance or on the spot, how to check the sessions calendar and much more.

Why should I be a WebEx host?

There are several advantages to being a WebEx host. You will

  • have the power to independently create your own personal online meeting room at any time from anywhere without submitting a ticket.
  • be able to schedule meetings in advance
  • see the calendar for all the sessions where you are a host or an alternate host
  • be able to check the WebEx session information for time, password, link, etc.
  • be able to talk to students or peers, share your desktop, show presentations, and record the session to be played back later
How to join or start a Zoom meeting?
