MSN: Low, high birthweight babies at higher risk of cardiovascular disease

Researchers from Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University published a study that suggests that babies that are born with weights below or over the range of 5.5 to 8.4 pounds are more susceptible to serious health problems later in life.

MSN reported on the new research, which found that babies with abnormal birth weights are found to have adipose or fatty tissue surrounding the organs. Dr. Brian Stansfield at the university stated, “The 5-pound baby, regardless of whether he grows up to be obese, normal weight or thin is going to have more visceral adiposity.”
