Current bio. What are you up to?
I’m an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Emory, and I started right after finishing residency last year. My current setup is a mix of general adult outpatient (mostly mood/anxiety/trauma/personality/ADHD), Transplant Center (pre-transplant assessment, management of various psych issues in the pre- and post-transplant periods, and collaborative care with organ teams), and inpatient consults (mood/anxiety, substance use, psychosis, cognitive issues in people who are hospitalized for medical reasons). I’m also a psychotherapy supervisor for a couple of residents, and I teach and facilitate discussions in the residency didactics curriculum. My main passions/interests at this point revolve around integration. More specifically, I’m interested in integrating psychotherapy approaches with one another, combining psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, interdepartmental collaboration, and integrating the field of Psychiatry with other disciplines (e.g., humanities and the arts, philosophy, religion and spirituality). My wife (Kalie Vinson) is also a graduate of the Medical Partnership, couples matched, also trained at Emory, now in private practice as an OB/GYN in Atlanta. We remain “study buddies” even today, although now our focus is less on Step exams and more on learning how to raise our two year old son, who is quite a handful…
