Bailey Named Family Medicine Clerkship Director

Amy Bailey, MD, has been named the new Family Medicine Clerkship Director at the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership.

Bailey is a family medicine physician with the Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) in Gainesville, Georgia, and she will continue that role while filling the Clerkship Director position with the Medical Partnership.

“We are honored Dr. Bailey is taking on these additional duties while staying in her current roles in Gainesville,” said Campus Assistant Dean for Clinical Curriculum Dr. Bob Satonik. “That work ethic only goes to show her passion for teaching and healthcare. Her enthusiasm is truly infectious. The experience she brings to this role will only help strengthen our efforts in Northeast Georgia.”

A Georgia native, Bailey earned a degree in applied biology from Georgia Tech in 2002, and she went on to earn her MD from Mercer University School of Medicine in 2007. She completed her residency in 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System where she was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2008 and 2009

Before joining NGPG in 2013, she practiced rural primary care (locations in Carnesville and Hartwell) and urgent care. Bailey was also a finalist for Gwinnett Physician of the Year in 2017. She has served as a delegate for her district in the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians and is an active member of her state chapter.

“We are very excited that Dr. Bailey has joined our outstanding team of faculty at the Medical Partnership,” said Campus Dean Dr. Shelley Nuss. “She brings in years of family medicine knowledge as well as experience working in rural healthcare.”

Bailey’s new role was official on July 1.
