Chahal named assistant dean for clinical curriculum: clerkship and enrichment

Khushdeep Chahal, MD, has been named the assistant dean for clinical curriculum: clerkship and enrichment at the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership. Chahal began his new role on May 1.

Chahal comes to the Medical Partnership from Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, Alabama, where he served as facility medical director for the Department of Medicine.

From 2017 through 2023, Chahal held numerous titles at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama—he served as the Internal Medicine Residency Program’s director, the Graduate Medical Education director, and the chair of the Department of Medicine.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Chahal to the Medical Partnership,” said campus dean, Dr. Shelley Nuss. “Dr. Chahal will play an integral role in strengthening relationships with our community faculty members and hospital partners and growing our clinical sites throughout Northeast Georgia. Dr. Chahal brings a wealth of knowledge in medical education and is passionate about the preparation of medical students for residency training.”

Chahal received his medical degree from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Medical College in 2007 before completing his internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the University of Alabama School of Medicine.

He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in health professions education at the University of Glasgow.
