Since I was an undergrad, I was fascinated by the different specialties of all of the doctors that I had shadowed, yet it was not their differences that had impressed me the most. It was their similarities that had reinforced my belief that a career as a physician was my correct life path. These doctors all had a love for their patients and a love for science. They were proficient in making countless decisions, and they all seemed to enjoy the hard work that is critical for a career in medicine. All of these traits contributed to the respect and confidence that I had seen in their patient's eyes.
