Medical Partnership Faculty Recognized During Honors Week

The University of Georgia’s Honors Week for 2023 was held during the week of April 17 and celebrated the achievements of outstanding students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

“Honors Week is an opportunity to recognize members of the university community who share a deep commitment to excellence, one of the hallmarks of our great institution,” said S. Jack Hu, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.

Five faculty members from the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership were recognized during Honors Week.

Drs. Matthew Boegehold, chair of basic sciences, DeLoris Hesse, associate professor of anatomy and embryology, Aimee Martin, campus director of simulation, and Amy Medlock, associate professor of biochemistry, were honored during the Faculty Recognition Banquet on April 17.

All four faculty members were recognized with the Outstanding Teaching Award.

Dr. Don Scott, campus director of geriatrics and palliative care, was a 2023 honorary inductee into the College of Public Health’s Beta Chi Chapter of Delta Omega Honor Society.

Delta Omega is an honorary public health society whose mission is to promote excellence in contributing to the field of public health and advancing the health of people in every aspect.

Scott was also recognized with his fellow team members at the College of Public Health for their outstanding work at the CARE Center.

CARE is a clinical, research and outreach program delivering brain health education, improving access to diagnosis, conducting cutting-edge research and providing support for families affected by dementia.

The CARE team was presented with the Team Impact Award at the Research Awards Banquet on April 20.
