Any gap years? If so, what did you do?
Yes! I took one gap year. I worked as a scribe in the ED of Crisp Regional Medical Center and in the orthopedic office of a spinal surgeon at Tift Regional Hospital. I really enjoyed working in both environments because I got to see different aspects of medicine. I also spent the summer of 2022 working on my family’s farm bailing wheat straw, spraying peanuts, and running irrigation.

Bio: tell us about yourself
Hey everyone, I’m Ben! I grew up on a farm in South Georgia, so the rural areas of our state have always had a special place in my heart. I am interested in primary care (particularly Internal Medicine and Pediatrics) with a special interest in rural medicine. I chose the Medical Partnership because of my interest in small group learning and community outreach. I spent the summer of 2023 as a counselor for the Mini-Med Camp run by the Medical Partnership, and that is when I found my interest in Pediatrics! I like to spend as much of my free time as possible back home either hunting or fishing. On weekends in Athens, I love exploring the town with my friends, playing golf, and cheering for the Dawgs!
