Any gap years? If so, what did you do?
I took 1 gap year which I am extremely thankful for because I had the opportunity to pursue some amazing opportunities! In my gap year, I interned at the City of Tucker, my hometown, as a Public Health and Sustainability Intern, where I aided in the local COVID-19 response by working with the Mayor to provide data analysis and updates to the City as well as by working with vulnerable population groups to minimize infection rates. Throughout the year, I also had the opportunity to give a TEDx talk at TEDx Georgia Tech titled “Prescribing Sustainability as a Preventative Measure” in which I advocated for the incorporation of environmental health and sustainability into medicine in both prevention and treatment (Would love for you to give it a listen :)). Lastly, I enrolled in a 1 year Islamic Studies program where I studied subjects like Arabic, Theology, Philosophy, and Legal Theory to name a few. Overall, it was a super formative year and I’m so glad that I was able to do it!

Bio: tell us about yourself
I’m super passionate about Environmental Health Science and Sustainability and exploring how they can be incorporated into healthcare. I currently serve as one of the Alumni Ambassadors for the class of 2025 and I’m looking forward to starting an Environmental Medicine Interest group later this year. My hobbies include soccer, tennis, badminton, reading, trying new foods, and traveling. If you need me, you can find me at Ahi Hibachi with a Poke bowl 😉

Hi! My name is Kyra Urquhart-Foster, and I’m an M2 at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Georgia State University in May of 2021 with my bachelor’s degree in chemistry. I am an Alumni Ambassador for the Class of 2025 Student Government Organization and serve on the Cancer Medicine Interest Group board as the M1 Representative. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, being outdoors (especially when the weather is nice!), attending local car shows, and taking my dog, Dallas, on lots of adventures!
