Bio: tell us about yourself
Hey! My name is Yasseen Amellal, and I am a fourth-year medical student at the Partnership. I grew up in cities such as Boston and Worcester, Massachusetts. My life journey led me to Kennesaw State University where I majored in biology. After that, I took a step back to re-evaluate my passion for medicine. My ultimate goal was to impact the community I was raised in, and I wanted to ensure that I could contribute most effectively through medicine. This reflective period inspired me to work with inner-city youth at the Boys and Girls Club, an experience rooted in my gratitude for the mentors who shaped my own childhood. Today, my passion for medicine is channeled through ophthalmology, a field where the impact is immediate and the potential to touch others is vast. Outside of medicine, you can find me on the comedy stage performing a set, journaling, playing basketball with peers on Fridays, or delving into a good book. I am grateful for what the Partnership has offered me and look forward to contributing to our community.
